Frequently Asked Questions
My floors looked nice, shiny and neat when new. After a few years they looked worn. How can I regain that new look?
If your floor is not deeply scratched, surface polishing may bring back an acceptable shine. However, existing scratches may remain. If your floor has worn badly, a complete restoration is recommended. In which case we would gladly evaluate the necessary procedure for your surface, on a free estimate, and help you decide what you may want to do.
What types of stone do you work with?
We work with natural stones, such as; marble, granite, limestone, sandstone, slate, botticino, travertine, terrazzo, onyx and many other. If you don’t know the type of your stone, don’t worry, we will gladly assist you with the right treatment.
What cleaning products should I use to protect my stone?
Most cleaning products are very aggressive on your stone.
You should not use vinegar, lemon juice, or other cleaners containing acids on any natural stone. Don’t use cleaners that contain acid such as bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners or tub & tile cleaners. Don’t mix bleach and ammonia. This combination creates a toxic and lethal gas.
Instead we recommend that you dust mop floors frequently, clean surfaces with a neutral stone cleaner, thoroughly rinse and dry the surface after washing, blot up spills immediately and protect floor surfaces with non-slip mats or area rugs and counter top surfaces with coasters, trivets, or place mats, particularly under those containing alcohol, or citrus juices. Keep in mind that many common foods and drinks contain acids that will etch or dull the stone surface.
Will there be dust in my house?
We work with a water based system, which captures the dust in water, so that very little, or no dust will occur. Additional to that we protect your walls and adjacent floors with plastic and drop clothes.
Would you grout areas in my shower?
Yes, MG The Marble Guys offer in addition to stone restoration: regrouting, caulking, and grout color sealing.
How much do you charge per square foot?
Every stone is different and requires different care, so we do not charge by square foot. We carefully evaluate the kind of maintenance and the amount of work your stone needs, and give you an individual estimate, free of charge.
Are you insured?
Yes we are insured, for your and our own protection and our all peace of mind.
I do not like the look of my grout anymore. What can be done?
We can definitely change the look and feel of your grout and tiles. We offer a grout cleaning and grout color sealing service that will not only make your grout lines look bright and clean, but will also bring out the beauty of your tile.
